New England is a way preppier area than the South. But we’re second.

It's pretty much the opposite.

Many of the Southerners who try to dress "preppy" do not have the same....."everything" else is probably the best way to put it.

Let's just say there is more to being truly preppy than what animal is on the chest of your polo shirt.

Preppy is more than a style of clothes. The term preppy comes from the New England Prep Schools and Ivy league schools. It is how the students dressed and acted that attended those schools in their heyday.

A vineyard vines tee shirt collection, a rep tie, a Lily dress, may get you deemed preppy.

That doesn’t mean you have the pedigree originally intended by the word.

And neither version of use is the same as being “southern”. \n\n\n\n\n
