what are the real sorority ranks???
by: .What do the students think??? Let’s be real, nobody cares about old vs new row anymore. How do the actual students feel about the sororities? Real ranks?

Students think this site is useless
Nobody looks at anyone with envy because they are in house “XYZ”.
Life isn’t “better” in any one house versus another. Everyone thinks their house is “best”.
If you are smart and put together and nice, you’ll be seen that way despite your letters. If you are a “sl-t”, have bad grades” or are a b—ch you will be seen that way for your own actions. There are some of each in ALL houses. Yes houses have trends, but recruitment doesn’t end up perfectly placing everyone, and more importantly no one is a perfect stereotype.
Grades don’t depend on your house - they depend on you. Same with your social life - if you are cute and social, you’ll be invited to many great parties and have dates.
Opinions on the guys in each frat are all over the place. Say house XYZ - someone will say they are the best and someone else the worst.
Your family’s personal wealth and social status also isn’t going to change because of the house you joined.
So ignore GR, and be yourself.

I'm in a house ranked near the top and I've never once felt that someone on campus was more impressed by me because of my letters.

Totally disagree. What house you’re in does matter in regards to which swaps you have, which formals and date parties you get invited to and which clubs you get to join on campus and involvement in SGA. The only people that say it doesn’t matter are the girls in bottom houses.
And yes, there is a certain amount of envy when you see a girl in a top house t-shirt. There’s nothing wrong with that.

the only thing you listed that is true is that it may affect what swaps you go to. you won’t be held back from any important opportunity because of which house had your name high enough on the bid list. pretty much every sorority has you apply for FYC with the SGA and at least one other club. you’ll meet fraternity guys at the bars, at band parties, at darties, in your clubs, and in class. it’s their decision to take you to date parties and formals. NOT your sorority’s. all the houses are huge and beautiful full of intelligent and seriously awesome girls who are gonna be successful. it’s really strange to me that everyone insists you can’t pick your house but also the girls in the house don’t really know who they’re getting but also that your sorority is the most important part of your 4 years at alabama. it’s not. you’ll learn by sophomore year that there are girls with the same interests and accomplishments as you in every house. there’s a reason every house thinks they’re the best: there are no bad houses here.

Look at how many New Row SGA presidents there have been compared to how many are Old Row. It DOES matter what house you’re in if you want to be in campus politics.
How many bottom tier sororities do you see at top fraternity formals? Sorry, but none.
Stop handing out participation trophies. We have bottom houses. They may be as good as middle tier houses at other schools but they’re still bottom here.

Ok. For the five people who became SGA president in the last five years it mattered. Lol.
I’m not fact checking that, but honestly wonder if it’s true that they were all OR.

A post about how ALL houses have very similar beautiful houses; pay nearly the same dues; with similar social calendars; parents that support the trapping of cars and trips and clothes; hang out at the same places downtown; get invited to formals at great venues....

The point was the experience is Much more the same than different between houses. Couldn’t agree more. \n\n\n\n\n
