how to be a sweetheart
by: Sweetheart HopefulI am in a house that doesn't get too much recognition and according to all the ranks were in the bottom. I would really love the honor to be a sweetheart for a fraternity. But I feel as though no matter how well I feel like I connect with a chapter I will always be overlooked because I'm not in a "popular" house. Is this true or if I keep trying can it happen?

Sadly there is a lot of politics in who gets selected as a sweetheart, and to your point a lot of times a fraternity will select someone in a popular house to act as a champion for them when determining if they swap or not. They also hoping that sweetheart brings more of her sisters over to the fraternity house.
However, ask yourself why is so important you are selected as a sweetheart? To get picture on composite? To wear a pin for a year?
If the guys in the house like you, you will always be welcome over regardless if you are a sweetheart or not.
