why is giving or receiving a snap bid bad?

by:

I don't see the big deal... honest question. Especially if both the sorority and girl end up happy!

Snap bids give a second chance to a pnm and the sorority, so it's all good. But haters just love a chance to make a sorority look bad by broadcasting that xyz had to give snaps, which actually may or may not have even happened. Honestly, snap bids are not exactly broadcasted, and only the rush team knows and they don't tell the chapter, and the pnm who accepts a snap runs home with everyone else on bid day. Girls in dorms know who gets a snap if they are roommates or on the same hall or something, but they should be too busy with their own experience to make any kind of deal about it. Those who do are insecure, bitter and mean.

Anyone using snap bids to insult a sorority just has nothing else to use. Snaps happen all the time and don't mean anything, but some people here use it like it's a bad thing. No one in real life knows or cares.

Also, if anyone on here says that a sorority took X amount of snaps, they are lying. The only people who know are Pan and the sorority leadership, and I promise you that no one on here belongs to those groups and are here talking about it.

Nothing wrong with snaps at all. Two of the strongest houses here gave out snaps this year. It’s a great opportunity for the house and girls who fell through. Rush at Bama is hard and it’s mostly about who you know. If someone comes from a hometown w/o connections, they may fall through the cracks and snaps helps make sure everyone gets a sorority. You cant go wrong with any house here.

It isnt common so no one should go into rush expecting it. It’s good for the PNM who may have for whatever reason been dropped by houses she wanted. People can say what they want but it is embarrassing for any house that has to give them. It means you didn’t have a good rush or overestimated how many girls would choose you. That being said...it happens to good houses sometimes.

All of the houses at Bama are good. KD gave out snap bids because they cut too many too soon, but I don't think that is a negative except that it is risky for a sorority at times. I cut some strong ones early that some kept to help the odds for my top 3 because we had to cut a good bit every day. Thankfully, it worked out, but they are all good. My focus was on Alpha Chi, AOII, and Alpha Gam, but honestly, every house I went to was very good. I have a lot of AOII friends at UT, Georgia, Arkansas, Auburn, and Florida. Alpha Chi is a lot smaller at UT, Arkansas, and Auburn, but they are all good. Great experience and grateful! I also have new friends in other groups as well. Pan love!

@Elizabeth, your comment makes no sense at all. The strong houses you think you 'cut' 99% likely they actually did the cutting, and there also nothing you could do to 'help the odds' for your top 3 because your choices meant nothing to the sororities when considering to ask you back or not. If a house votes to cut you then they cut you, no matter what you put on your card.

Oh Elizabeth, that is not how rush works. You probably focused on wanting AXO or AGD but you ended up in AOPi (please accept our condolences).

Pan love sweetie.

@Elizabeth
Lizzy, now we all know this is NOT the truth.... NO ONE and I mean NO ONE seeks out AXO, AOPi, and AGD collectively. They are such different groups, no cross rushing at all. You're telling a big one there. The only truth you told is snap bids aren't always 'negative'.
