by: Incoming 1st yr.I will be an incoming freshman next year from NC and plan the rush these four fraternities. This is based purely objective IFC grade reports (which is important criteria to me & the people footing the bills) What else should be looking for? What am I missing?

You can't go wrong. Good list, good order. Start contacting them early. They only take about 45 guys each. Spots fill up fast. New rush chairmen won't be in place until 60 days from now, Jan next year. Arrange a visit. Try to have a bid by April or May. Be persistent.

It is good plan to research and give yourself a place to start in your fraternity pursuits, however don't limit yourself so early in the process just based on a grade report. Give all houses a look before you narrow down to a small group, you may find you fit in better at another house. Absolutely, you are going to college to study and graduate and many houses are very supportive in those endeavors but that is not the only reason you join a fraternity.

Good plan. ATO takes a lot of in-state guys connected thru family, friends, and in-state feeder schools. Better chance for out-of-state guys with Sig Ep and Sigma Chi. Concentrate on your targets. Schedule visits and then follow-up visits if there's interest.
For the top 10 fraternities, rush is pretty much over by the end of May or early summer. Formal rush when school starts is a joke. Lots of disappointed people that didn't know.
