So Aphi is bashed for only going for looks...or NOT only going for looks. Interesting.

Bashed? She said they used to go for looks. That is true.
She said they didn't get as many looks girls this year. That is also true.
She said the new members might be good for the house. That is also true.
She said that people will have to get used to the new reputation of A Phi. That is also true.
And none of those things bash A Phi.

I don't understand how anyone thinks AOPi moved up in the ranks? You also overestimate KKG who may have stayed the same but with so many houses doing so much better it moved them down by not keeping up. I like the premise behind the post to show movement from year to year.

I agree. AOII definitely moved up, and they have been on the rise for the past 3 - 4 years. It is amazing how the grandmothers and moms on here don't want to see change and opportunity. They also don't realize that Alabama is now 60% OOS students. Thank goodness! Did you see the AOII pledge class? Holy cow! Their new pledge class is filled with beautiful, sweet, and smart girls. They picked up some amazing and beautiful Alabama girls and OOS girls that Alpha Gam lost or girls that lost interest in Alpha Gam. There are so many great girls! I would say that every group did well, but yes, I agree with the initial post above. The post asking about AOII either doesn't go to Bama or is still living in their 1980's OR mentality which no one cares about at Bama anymore. I also like that Zeta went after girls with a little more diversity than just what they have focused on in the past. Just my opinion. Pan love to all!

AOPi and KKG both moved down in the ranks. Not because they're bad but because others moved up more.

I really liked AOII, GPB, Zeta, and Alpha Gam. I kept them all on my card as part of my top 7 before narrowing to Alpha Gam and AOII. I thought the girls were super sweet and interesting. I wanted to focus on grades as well and made the decision to pick my preferences based on the girls I liked and grades. I also thought the girls were diverse in their approach to sorority life, and I liked that they were focused on community service as well as grades. They were all really pretty as well. I know that sounds bad. I was very happy with my preferences and where I landed, but I really thought they were all amazing in many different ways. In the end, loved my preference choices of AOII and Alpha Gam.

I agree that PM has an amazing pc. I think they didn’t sweep rush as they usually do and lost girls to zeta, GBP and Agd which is definitely not the norm for them.
I would actually say only KD and Pi Phi “fell” but think it’s because they rested on their past and didn’t anticipate the drive of new row

Because Phi Mu is known for being a looks house. It’s like if Alpha Chi took a bunch of girls who weren’t necessarily QRs and had okay grades but weren’t top students. Maybe they’re great girls but that’s losing what makes them “top. Or if Kappa took a bunch of super religious girls who didn’t care about being social. It may be for the betterment of the house eventually, but it would take people on campus some getting used to. Obviously if Phi Mu moves in a completely new direction and becomes a grade house that’s one thing, but they’ve built an identity around being decently well-rounded, southern but still welcome to OOS, and looks focused. Nobody can tell if Phi Mu did this on purpose or if they’re saying it to save face. The next grade report should be telling. I don’t think they did poorly, but it’s a new look for sure and it wasn’t a sweep.

Ok let’s be honest just because a girl prefs a sorority but doesn’t make their bid list does not mean they “lost” them to the sorority they pledged.

All the houses pulled strong girls. This year, some pulled more than others and worked harder. I’m a bit tired of hearing the Zeta praise. They’ve done their own thing, rules be damned, for years during recruitment. For that alone, I cannot give them praise. Yes, certain old Row houses do this in very specific areas with only 10-20 actives and PNM’s involved. I would definitely give praise to DZ and AOII and AGD for getting nicer PC’s than they have historically had in the past. But, everyone did very well!

One thing the OP didn't catch was the A Phi dropped. They used to be able to release most of the girls who weren't "looks" girls. Last year and this year they haven't been able to do that. Maybe that is good for their house but it will take getting used to
