SDT as a national org does not have the money to compete here anymore. They can’t afford to build a house that would keep up with the rest, and they’re definitely not going to spend the money on a recolonization/rejoining formal recruitment without it. It’s just never gonna happen.

Instead of bashing SDT, appreciate them for their unique offering to Bama women.Their smaller class size gives their members a chance for a closer relationship among all members. A smaller group might be a perfect offering for many at this huge school.

IDK why people on here are obsessed with SDT joining for recruitment anyway. SDT provides a different option for people who want to be Greek but maybe not in a house with 400 other people, don't want to/can't spend the money a pan house costs, feels uncomfortable in traditional greek life, or any number of reasons. I highly doubt pan sororities are losing girls to them, so who cares? Every SDT I've ever met loves their sorority and is having a great time, so let them do them.
This little rant isn't to the OP, btw, but the inevitable shade because they don't conform to traditional sorority standards.

SDT is allowed to not participate in recruitment because several years ago their Texas chapter (who is in a similar situation) was forced to do rush by their panhellenic. They totally tanked, got less girls than they usually did, and the PNMs were rightfully pissed off. It’s a tough situation all around. The best chance for them being a regular sorority IMO is closing for three or four years and doing a proper recolonization.
