cuts seemed pretty brutal

active here, i’m in state, had a 4.4 gpa, 30+ ACT, graduated top of my class, was from a target area, but i wasn’t well connected so i got dropped by every OR house except for PM after IWT. connections and recs matter a lot more than you think. don’t take any of it too personally and know that you will very likely find your place no matter where you end up.

You have 3 left. That’s great so try to focus on those 3. All houses are great here. This is the toughest rush in the country. Lots of PNMs are in your same spot.

EVERY girl is just like you. And you are at the mercy of houses decisions. Sometimes there isn't a reason TO cute you...there's just more reason NOT to cut someone else. It's a brutal process, but 3 houses see something in you so now try to find some the good in them.

The truth is, it's not really "mutual selection." The sororities are in the driver's seat unless you're like a queen bee PNM that all houses are lusting after. Problem is, all the girls going through are wonderful. Most have recs, really great grades, tons of activities, some have connections, etc. sadly, those things make you average. Which I don't mean as an insult. But I just think it's kind of a lie about mutual selection. Fortunately, at this school, every house is really amazing and would be top tier at any other school. This is the absolute truth. So hang in there with your three. It's three more than some PNMs have, and I don't even need to know who they are to know it's three great houses. Good luck!
