sigma kappa or cob?

by: Pnm

Hey y’all, I’m a pnm here and I was just dropped from every house besides sigma kappa after iwt. To be honest they were at the bottom of my list, just wasn’t feeling it and Ik they’re knew. Im on the verge of just dropping recruitment, I’ll give them another look during philanthropy but idk. I don’t see much of them on here, so I’m wondering what I should do. I’m a pretty attractive girl but a 3.1 and far oor with no connections, should I drop out and pray for a snap bid or cob or is sigma kappa a place I’ll be able to party and meet new friends? TIA

They are new and growing!! You have the chance to be part of something new at Bama!! If you’d like the sorority experience, I would give it a try. At one time, GPB was new and look at them now!!

COB is very not guaranteed. Hit and miss. Just because a chapter is under total does not mean they will be interested in COB.

snaps are even less likely. Don't rely on them happening at all.

BTW low GPA can still affect you in COB at some chapters.

Recent alum here, just trying to help while everyone's busy with parties. Going to be 1000% honest with you, if you were cut the first night because of no connections and a low GPA then you aren't the girl any chapter would give a COB or snap bid to. Those are given to girls that make it further into the week but are cut, or cut the chapter, but then find themselves without a bid or released. I'm sorry but a girl cut round 1 won't be offered a spot even if they have one (and that's a big if especially since SK is brand new). The only house that would maybe offer you a COB is SK, so stick with them while you can! They see something in you and are looking for the girls that will start and define their chapter and you.could okay a huge role there! Keep in mind they don't have a set personality because they are so new, and there will be a lot.of.girls in your position that can make that chapter what you want it to be. Being Greek anywhere is worth it so stick with SK!

Above slumna is correct, at this point, no snaps and very unlikrly COB. Most houses fo not do COB and the few who do just have a couple of spots to fill, which will go yo girls higher on their list (dropped from sisterhood or pref).

SK is a great opportunity as they are a full fledged national sorority dedicated on growing asap. I would encourage you to eork hard on impressing these ladies.
If you are snle to pledge there, you will meet a wide range of over 100 pledges, mostly freshmen, looking to make friends. SK will have the programming to hive you ways to get yo know these ladies. So they eould be sn excellent option.

Your second option would be to te-rudh next year. You eoulc have to come in with great freshman grades and you would have a year to make connections.

Personally, I would go with SK and work hard to make it the best sorority experience for yourself by attending everything they do.

SK is definitely better than dropping. If you decide not to initiate you can go through rush next year. Take a chance on SK and see if you want to initiate. If not, you can take the year and improve your academic stats and then have a better resume for fall rush as an upper classman. you can also figure out who you just make friends with along the way and they will push you in recruitment next time. But yes, do SK and give it a chance.

I follow SK on Facebook and I've seen their entire journey from colonization. They seem like a great group of sweet girls! I also have to agree with the alum. This is your best shot at a sisterhood at this school. SK is giving you a chance- at least finish recruitment and see how you feel, should you make it to Pref with them. Good luck!

First of all, so sorry you got cut so badly but I’m glad you understand that it is most likely because of grades and lack of connections. IT IS NOT PERSONAL AND DOES NOT DEFINE YOUR WORTH. These are young mostly immature people doing the voting and don’t have life experience to look beyond the norm of superficial beauty, grades and recs.
Spend your time thinking about things to talk about and ask about, practice smiling a lot and show your best side to SK. Rush at Bama is the biggest in the country and can be so intimidating, but honestly if you get into ANY SORORITY you will have a great experience. It really makes college so much easier in terms of starting out with friends, making social connections, and YES helps you academically if you’re not an alcoholic or just looking to party.
GOOD LUCK TO YOU!
