Interesting so tell me (besides BORING grades) what makes a person really desirable. I’ve got no connections , I’m cute but not gorgeous and my gpa is low end.

High gpa (which matters, sorry, it’s college) lots of connections, legacy. That’s it. Connections are #1

It may sound boring, but as that person pointed out, it is college.
Sororities and fraternities are ranked every year in terms of academic success, (from 1-24 in the case of sororities, 1-40 in frats) and this is used as a selling point, w alums, parents, the school, PNMs etc.
grades really DO matter.
Some sororities are so successful this way, they can afford to take a PNM or two w low GPA, but only if the girl is solid in lots of other areas (ie beautiful, good personality, extracurricular talent esp singing/dancing, a legacy, lots of recs)
Unfortunately for girls with a low GPA, this is the number one reason for getting cut. When you sign up for recruitment at Bama, I think they even tell you, they recommend a minimum GPA of 3.2. Some sororities will automatically cut you if you’re lower than a 3.5.
For future PNMs, if your high school GPA is lower end, be sure that the people who write your recs write a GOOD REASON for why this is so.

Yes, when you get your schedule back and you see your houses that is your sign.

This. Schedule is it. Also, get ready, grade cuts will be brutal and cause a shake up every year. Expect of disappointment tomorrow morning from supposed top girls with connections because of grades. Some top houses have a no exceptions no matter what policy now. Expect also many girls to be very pleasantly surprised and exposed as a top pnm even if they did not see it coming in. Things are definitely changing and the well rounded resume with “cute enough” beauty AND grades is the thing. The perfect 10s with low grades are not it, not anymore at the top houses. Will this help aphi and Gphi with down rank ripple effects? Bet it will.

Well rounded resume, cute enough, with grades has always been the thing at Alabama. Very different from most schools where all the lower chapters usually have better grades. I don’t think top houses here have ever put that much stock in looks.

They ALL want cute pledge classes. Every. Last. One. Of. Them.

Yeah sure, but most girls rushing are at least cute. Not all have the grades/resume

Personality is important in many houses too, just not all of them, sadly. Don’t forget personality.
