i wish bama had themed bid day

It’s very old school to dress up, I think we just do it because of tradition. I’ve really liked it the past few years but now that I’m a senior I kind of wish we had a theme. I don’t see it changing anytime soon unless a top house just decides to go crazy and do it, and then I’m sure other houses would the next year.

I think it’s stupid. We spend way too much money on setting up recruitment as it is. Just get your bid and go to your house. There’s plenty of celebrating there.

No, it's super hot and too much is going on. Bid day and retreats are awesome here. Themes could be cool maybe at a smaller school. Some girls have to wear white dresses which is so dumb

Actually it is a National Panhellenic directive, so other schools really are phasing themes out as well. Instead of unrealistic, idealized themes, our portrayals of are houses are now aimed to be a real portrayal of grown women being gown women. The goal is to have a more honest open recruitment vs being constantly entertained/sidetracked by themes. Also, technically, it is now considered hazing to force a theme costume these days. Even theme parties are supposed to be optional dress so no one feels forced.
