grades

by:

all you sororities act like you value a high gpa & involvement in high school but the reality is the university of Alabama is just not that prestigious of a university. Very few of you were top of the class in high school or else you would have gone to a name brand college like an Ivy League or ivy par schools like WashU, Emory, georgetown, hopkins, etc just sayin y’all should stop acting like Alabama is an amazing academic school with girls/guys with amazing involvement and grades in high school

This, but also the insinuation that since we’re not at an Ivy we should just... stop caring about grades and involvement?? Like what

Explain then why Alabama had a lot of USA Academic All Americans, National Merit Scholarship Finalist and a fair share of Rhodes and Marshall Scholars?

I'm only planning on transferring next year, I got good grades and basic curriculum for free here. Also that's when the Greek social party of your college life is/was the best. This is something people don't like to admit to because
1. No school wants to have the rep as a safety/transfer point.
2. ALOT of "plan to transfers"never end up doing it due to grades, money, but whatever

Very inaccurate. Explain why we have so many national merit scholars and recruit kids with extremely high ACT scores to be on scholarship.

Maybe that is sort of true now, but changes are coming to this school rocket fast (compared to most others). Bama is one of the fastest growing colleges in the US. Their percentage of acceptances is dropping more and more each year. They definitely are attracting very high quality students here who do love it here snd do find challenges and opportunities. Bama is dedicated continue following this track, so as their applications rise, quality of student rise, acceptances will go down significantly and Bama will Be know for what it really is... a wonderful college that turns our academically and docially well rounded graduates.

Academics in sororitys is competitive. Just go to the grade reports and see the grades pulled down by these fantastic women. Not only are they smart, but they have great social skills. Not so at many other schools.

Move along. So hard to be a wannabe prestige hound that you can't realize that Alabama offers all that bigger names offer with the amazing ROI that can't be matched. I have the opportunity to do research, work with top professors, and I am in the middle of a high paying internship far from Alabama along side of Ivy kids right now. Not only can I hang, I am shining. They are stressed out, uptight, and their social skills suck. I am meeting with upper division peeps for coffee every morning and know I can work the room and make small talk with all of them. Skills I brought to Bama but perfected during rush. Oh and to the other actives here be careful about throwing too much shade as I have been networking with some alums and it is amazing how many from lower tier houses and Jefferson frats our out there ahead of us. It is a little intimidating that I might be judged by the reputation of my house which works great on campus but not so much in this world.

you have good grades because your school is easy, any employer in their right mind would take an Ivy League degree with a lower gpa than yours bc they know those kids have been challenged to a much higher level of academic rigor. All of those ivy kids would have a 4.0s at Bama but a lot of you people at Alabama couldn’t even get it to the schools they go to, much less scrape a good gpa

Everyone knows the hardest part about an Ivy is getting in! Grade inflation and easy courses are the norm. The expectation is that all are smart so easy As are the norm. Top world known profs are researching and writing books and TAs are teaching all those Ivy classes. Large state schools like Bama are the hardest to get good grades and high GPAs. Weeder classes, navigating scheduling are all a thing at UA and big schools that are not issues with my friends at small liberal arts schools or Ivys. No coddling here. Since they are expected to accept and educate instate kids there is a huge range of abilities but that doesn't mean that the brightest aren't every bit as good, if not better than those in any school in the world. Sorry you have such insecurities that you need to come here to puff up. It is not becoming and it won't serve you well after you leave your academic bubble. Maybe you should be practicing your personal skills in person somewhere or back in your gaming headset and not on a site of a school so beneath you!
