to all pnms -- please pay attention

by:

I had a couple of friends from high school that dropped out of recruitment because they felt like they only had houses where they didn't fit in (read: those houses were beneath me). Just so you understand, in houses of over 400 girls, all houses have girls that you fit in with and girls that you don't. No house is beneath you. The ranks you see are left over from the 1950s and early 1960s. They have no relevance today.

As someone who dropped from recruitment, I can wholeheartedly say I don’t feel “above” any houses, but I just didn’t feel like I fit the houses’ brand. I’m sure I could have made friends anywhere I went, but I rerushed and joined a house I felt like I genuinely belong in now. So it’s not all about that, sorry!

You dropped from the first group that gave you a bid, because you did not think you could find any friends in that group of 400. Hmmmmm...weren't they the one and only group to offer you their friendship and wanted you to join their membership. Let me just say, the house that was smart enough to pick me was my favorite house right away, so I can not understand your choice. I can not imagine what it was like to sit out a whole year instead of giving all those women a chance. You missed a very fun freshman year, I'll bet any house looked good the second year. You were right actually, if you felt that way before getting to know these women, you were not a good fit. Wonder if second house had any idea how you pre-judged thd first house.

You’re being awfully judgmental for someone who literally admitted you could not understand because you were happy with your bid. I dropped on pref after receiving a house back that is at the bottom end of the grade report, joined a more academically focused house later, and have never looked back nor regretted it once.

I totally resent the idea that sororities can cut PNMs at will but PNMs are just expected to sit and take it. As much as panhel wants us to believe it, rush is not a perfect process and not everything “works out in the end.”
