I’ve heard a lot from different people. It honestly will come down to who you are as an overall package.
Do you have connections to certain houses? For example: Who wrote your letter of rec? Are they a member of the Alabama chapter? Or are you a legacy?
What were you involved in during Highschool? Do you have tons of volunteer hours? Did you play a varsity sport? Can any of these be the reason why your GPA may have suffered?
Some houses care about the way you look and value whether or not looks wise you’ll fit in. Other houses are welcoming to everyone! It’s important to be realistic in where you stand and when rushing with under a 3.0, being super open minded about the whole process. I know girls who have gotten bids from “top” houses with under a 3.0 and I’ve seen girls dropped from every house.

Unless you have a real and temporary reason that your GPA is low. You're screwed. My dad and brother died in a car accident on New year's Eve my senior year. I went from mostly A's and 5s on ap exams to B's and C's even one D my last semester. My mother and I contacted panhel and a special note was on file for me. If a situation like that happens they work with you. If you have ridden the 3.0 all your HS life then no one will give you a chance. I'm proud to say after 2 years my college gpa is a 3.7. but considering all that I know one house dropped me because of grades and didn't care why they fell so hard. If you can't make decent grades in high school, why would anyone think you could in college?
