Okay if you fluff up your GPA a tad like one or 2 points say a 3.6 to a 3.8 will sororities notice? Do they really compare your transcript and resume... I feel like they won’t notice but i don’t want to get in trouble just let me know

It’s not recommended. I believe the houses are provided official GPAs by UA as well as the GPAs you put on the registration.

Since registration’s closed though it’s too late to make any changes.

Go ahead. I mean, what could happen? It'll just make our decision on you easier. \n\n\n\n\n(Yes, we do get your transcript. And we look at it.)

Do they get final transcripts or the one you use to apply with which in my case would be 9-11. I applied to Bama with an overall 3.498 ( I went to a small private college prep high school) but graduated with a 3.589. I know when applying my rigorous class load was taking into account do sororities do this as well?

If we’ve never heard of your prep school it’s not taken into account. But a 3.5 won’t keep you out of any houses that would bid you if they really wanted you.

We get the official college transcript GPA that your HS sent for workshop. We divide girls by region and we have our regional chairs look them over and redline the girls who don’t make our recommended GPA. Unless you have some extenuating circumstances (you are a legacy or have recs/ connections that can vouch for you), you won’t get put in the yellow zone where we will give you some extra time. We look over girls who have recs and give extra consideration to pair those girls with actives they can connect with. Having a 3.4/ 3.5, you should be fine for most houses. Your next steps will be how well you present yourself and how well you can connect with the current actives.

@august in my house

Not to be annoying but could
U please explain this.
“Unless you have some extenuating circumstances (you are a legacy or have recs/ connections that can vouch for you), you won’t get put in the yellow zone where we will give you some extra time”
I am taking this to mean if u have the gpa requirement but not a rec or someone who knows you that you won’t get a second look after IWT. I have at least one rec for almost all sororities with the exception of 2 but I am far OOS. I am a legacy to a chapter there with a mom who is heavily involved as an alumnae both at the local and national level but we both realize that doesn’t guarantee me anything and plus it may not be a fit for me. I just want to prepare myself if not having a rec for those 2 sororities will get me dropped first round.

We have a recommended GPA set by us here at Alabama. We are a busy group with a full calendar and we need to feel confident you will make grades for initiation. We have a national GPA requirement that is a few tenths lower. That is our hard cut off. Even if you’re a triple legacy, you’re not getting past sisterhood if you are below that hard cut off. You will be let go before prefs. But, if you’re a legacy or someone knows you and vouches for you ( you or your family had a hardship that contributed to your meh grades) and you fall below our recommended GPA but you still meet the national cut off, we can keep you around to see if everything else about you says “sister”. If you have a decent GPA ( with your 3.5, you’re fine for most houses), the next step is how you present yourself and how connected we feel about you. A rec helps us know more about you before we meet you. There are girls that we already know we want to have on our top bid list because of great recs and connections. But, if I fall in love with you as PNM with no rec, I’m going to pass you around as quick as I can to my girlies so they can see what I see and move you to the next round. We will beg one of our alum helpers to whip up a rec if we want you. The thing about getting recs before coming to UA is it just helps us help you. We only have so many recs we can get on the fly so we gotta LOVE you to get those. If you can get recs in, even if they’re late, do it. A late rec is still better than no rec.

The rec or be dropped is BS.

No matter what some will claim, I have confirmed through a variety of friends that there isn’t a house that you can’t get to pref with without a rec. \n\n\n\n\n experience from a variety of friends experience withto pref in ALL houses without a rec. \n\n\n\n\n

Your friends who got to pref without getting a rec themselves were not aware of what was going on behind the scenes. A rec was procured for them real fast and your friends would have no idea about it. But nobody can count on that.

@Truth- per our sorority bylaws- no bid can be offered to a potential new member without a recommendation being submitted on her behalf prior to acceptance. Every sorority does it differently, but with 120 plus girl pledge classes, there is NO WAY we could get a rec for every girl before bids get handed out. So, we ask the PNM to help us help them. I guarantee if we are very mixed about a girl and she doesn’t have a rec and there are several girls that are also on the fence that already do, who are we going to ask back for sisterhood? If we are in love with a girl and she doesn’t have one, we are getting her one. But, our alumnae helpers are already writing ones for other girls that we really want to keep around and a rec takes 30 minutes to crank out. I guarantee girls without a rec can get dropped if we aren’t feeling her more than a girl who does have one.

Yep, if we all love you, but you do not have a rec, we will swing you by an alumna on hand to meet you, so she can write a rec. Every house had alumna at their house during recruitment. But, if you have great grades and a great resume, it is very much to your advantage to send a rec, so the members we can get to know you a little.
