crunching numbers
by: Just thinkingLast year, with 2244 PNMS, the actual number of girls who got bids on bid day (EXCLUDING SK and COBs) was around 1860. Around 83% of girls got bids on bid day last year, much below the suggested percentage from Panhellenic solely because of the colonization of SK. Hopefully it goes back up this year, meaning that about 2100/2281 girls get bids on bid day. This would mean the average pledge class size will be around 124 girls!

How many girls who maximized their options, didnt get a bid?
These acceptance criteria aside, I think the answer to the above is likely less than ten
Girls total, or less than 1 percent.
With all respect to those few, the odds of not getting a bid if you are open to all your options is very small.

I wonder if it was a year that Bama had to admit more students than usual. The number of admissions offers are based on a certain percentage of acceptances that they can usually rely on based on yearly statistics. More offers are given every year than the number of freshmen the school actually wants to admit because they know that a certain percentage will not accept here. But some years a school will get far more acceptances than usual and have to take a larger freshman class than they would like. Could this be it?
