If you are here o. GR pre-recruitment.....

1. ...... because you are coming to UA knowing nothing about Greek Life, then throw all these ranks and opinions out the window. Top and bottom ranks will in NO way effect the quality of your experience at
Bama or in Greek life here. Find and focus on your fit when you go through recruitment.

2. .....because you are coming to UA knowing friends/relatives from school, church and your community, then prepare for the social consequences of not being in the “right” OR house as detailed here and sense of shame for not being in an “appropriate” top ranked, house.

I hope this is clear - who this all matters to and who it really doesn’t.

If you “dont already know” none of this crap is going to matter while you are here nor the rest of your life - even if you end up living in Mountain Brook and want to join the Country Club of Birmingham. Your social acceptance there is going to depend on factors other than your Greek association when you were an outsider at Bama.

If you do already “know” well then you already know it matters because it represent being accepted by those in “those” places that you know or want to know better. I honestly feel for your anxiety and am sympathetic to the pressure of this if you are in this boat.

If you are not, relax and enjoy!
