fitting in - finding your place

Instead of all the bashing, it would be nice to help by giving an accurate picture of sororities here and campus life as well. Some Girls don’t just sit in the sorority house like the old days and need info on what life is really like.

So, which sororities are involved if you are into that, which like more partying if that’s you, etc etc. Real information to help make decisions... not catty stuff. That way you pledge where you have the best chance of being around an atmosphere you will be comfortable in.

It's a nice idea, but we shouldn't pigeon-hole houses or pnm's. Girls just coming out of high school mostly still haven't really found themselves and don't know what is going to appeal to them in their college lives until they get here. Also for every 'party house' there will be scholars; for every 'not as involved house' there will be very busy and active leaders; for every 'Christian' house there will be those who don't identify with that; for every 'rich' house there will be far less of those than you think; for every 'pageant' house there are plenty who aren't that type at all. If every house were strictly a 'type' then how restrictive, boring, and pointless, and then we really do become the stereotype of Greek life that we constantly deny.

Yes!! ^^ Maybe when our Greek system was smaller, you could more clearly classify houses into categories like academic, party, religious, involved, wealthy, etc. but the houses are just too big to do that anymore!!! You will find ALL types of girls in every single house.

Also, the people on here who think that there are still clearly defined “tiers” and still only three “top” houses are older alums and moms.

PNMs - no matter where you end up, you will be able to find lifelong friends your house and even your pledge class if you make an effort! Welcome to Bama - you will love it!

Especially your pledge class - it will be over 100 girls! Just think - that’s bigger than a lot of people’s entire high school class!
