This is true but it’s not easy to get into ANY house here. I don’t want PNMs to be thinking they are getting their choice of lines 3 and below. Rush is very competitive here. Get your recs!

PNMs - make sure you maximize your options! You may end up loving a house that was just ok in the previous round.

That may be generally accurate but no one knows all the return rates for all the chapters.

This may be accurate, but any individual PNM is going to see it through their own lens, based in part on whether they are a partier, more academic, more southern, etc.

Many girls will have a different experience at each house. I personally didn’t like one top house for IWT ( really loud rap music) but still ranked them as a “1” because I knew they were a great house. I actually liked a lot of NR houses more than some OR houses. But, again, I ranked on some more superficial stuff ( location, pretty house and members) over semi-awkward conversations and amazing philanthropies. I got dropped by a couple of my “1” houses and got some of my ranked houses back for a second ( and even one for a third) look. I ended up in a house that I felt was a solid top 3 from the first round and kept getting better as the week went on. That’s the process. You get dropped and disappointed by a couple of houses, you get excited by the others. In the end, even the one that I wasn’t feeling that much ( we had 3 my year) was still a great house with great girls in it! I would have been happy there. A different happy than my house? Maybe? But it’s ok to change your opinions and see what options are out there. You only need one.

These numbers change throughout the week. This is typical for the less selective round (iwt, maybe philanthropy) but as sisterhood and lref are concerned, numbers fluctuate

You are way off on the return rates for my house. I think people would be very surprised if they knew the truth.

Mine too. I was shocked to see where they fell. Our chapter adviser told us how we did and who our competition was. This isn't even remotely true.

Anyone can make up stuff and post. Only panhellenic officers would know this and none would disclose this.
This is completely made up.

PNMs, you have to understand, Bama has the largest and best chapters of almost every national group. This is true for even the houses ranked low on GR. Every house delivers a top sorority experience. Every house is large enough for you to find sisters like you. The only driving factor that will impact your sorority experience is how much you engage with members of your sorority and how much you participate in the variety of events hosted by your sorority.

Don’t think you can argue the houses noted as first and second are most common on full cards.

Generally The houses lower than that are what’s left on Cards with deeper cuts or begin to fill in as one or two pnm higher ranked houses fall off

This is true, but return rates aren’t based on who everybody is actually returning to. They’re determined by who, out of all the girls they invited back, also chooses to return to that house.

So for philanthropy for example, according to their RFM numbers top house XYZ invites back 1200 and 1100 of those girls also listed XYZ high enough to return. But lower house ABC has to invite back 2000 and only 1200 choose to return. Hence ABC has a lower return rate even though they have more PNMs coming through

My house is one that gets high returns. The downside is we do big cuts the first round and bigger cuts the second. We drop a lot of girls that we would like to give another look to but we have to get the numbers down. On the plus, we have much fewer parties and more breaks than houses with historically lower returns and need to keep a higher number of PNM’s around.

PiPhi, ZTA and even APhi have more rush interest than suggested by their rankings on GR.

This is particularly true with out of state and out of region pnms.

And despite what you think about these houses reputation in the aftermah, they are very competitive during recruitment.

Certain AL and other MS, LA, TN pnms may not be interested in these houses, but there aren’t enough of those girls to fill all the OR availability and OR needs to get some of the OOR.

But there are OOR girls who would rather be in PiPhi/ZTA/APhi than some OR houses.

During rush top of NR can be more difficult and competitive than bottom of OR. \n\n\n\n\n

I agree with above that there are a ton of OOR PNMs whose top houses are NOT the OR houses (especially the super southern ones)

A Phi did until last year. They had to drop a ton of girls because nationals made them. Then they tried to pick up a lot during recruitment but didn't end up only getting good looking ones like usual so a lot of those girls were disappointed and dropped A Phi. They're in some trouble trying to work their way off the bottom now.

Yeah. Not any more with A Phi. They got kicked to the curb by their nationals when they expelled all those members freshman year. Then last year they had lots of trouble recruiting and didn't get the kind of class they did before. We'll see what they do this year, but so far the buzz isn't good.

I think the OP does a decent job of captiring the general buzz at rush.

Personal experiences can be weird though.

I rushed with a full card but there was a “low ranked” house that I wanted because of a family friend who was an alumnae at a different school, sent a rec, and I liked at IWT. They cut me early although I rankled them relatively high. Guess. My convo there did t go as well as I thought. Some suggested they cut me because they didn’t think I’d end up there in the end. I don’t kniw.

Yet, there was an old row house that I didn’t like, didn’t have a rec, and I put low in my rankings. They stayed on my card theough sisterhood. I would conclude their return rate isn’t what one may think. \n\n\n\n\n

Love the down votes!

Guess it’s some one Who can’t believe an old row house is in a position that it Has to keep inviting back a girl with no rec who really isn’t that interested.

I can confirm for sure it happens!

I think the OP overestimates the interest in DDD, KD and AGD, who should all move down a level.

Underestimates PiPhi and APhi - although APhibis hard to place these days - both should move up a level.

A Phi is going to have to prove themselves before they move up. They took a ton of girls last year in recruitment then lots of them dropped out. All in all they really had a terrible recruitment.

I’m not going to get into the categories because that has been covered in lots of other posts, but “most wanted” really, really changes depending on whether you are most interested in grades, connections, involvement, partying, looks, tradition or something else.

by: GA girl

Agree. Everyone is looking for something different. I don’t care if a house has the lowest return rate - if that’s the house I want, then it doesn’t matter to me!
