why does ddd have the fewest members of or?

by:

Seriously asking: I keep seeing that DDD is top three but they have so few members compared to the other OR sororities. Is this because they are more selective or people drop out after awhile?

They are a strong house but not top. A few rushes, they have cut too hard in the beginning and then didn’t have as many want them as they expected. DDD is a particular taste like KD or AXO but for very different reasons. I definitely like DDD better than either of those two

Looking at the available reports on the UA site, all the top houses seem to fluctuate year or year but all stay in the same basic number range.

Because they’re not top three and we have been trying to tell you that. Every house is forced to take enough girls to meet quota, so when you see a house with lower numbers, it shows how many have dropped since they all give out the same number of bids.

So a house with lower membership numbers either shows a problem with their sisterhood or that their girls are transferring to other schools.

DDD gets one of the best three pledge classes every single year. Definitely top of top!

Every sorority thinks they get the best pledge class so this doesn’t make them “top” . Tiers are subjective anyway. I’m guessing DDD has smaller numbers because they weren’t first choice last year for many who oreffed them. That happens and has happened to every sorority at Bama one time or another. In fact, KD had a few years of snap bids because girls chose kappa, DDD and XO over them on pref night. That’s ok, it didn’t permanently hurt them and they have rebounded as will DDD.

Agree with @OK. They probably had an off year. DDD is a great house at Bama and some of my best friends are in that house!

Umm no they don’t. Top six pledge class every year, yes. But definitely not top 3.

I think one of the older pledge classes may had some drops but the last two pledge classes have been very strong and very bonded.

DDD is not top three. Maybe top six.

So much alum self ranking on here. DDD is a weird mix of old Birmingham money and recently have been pledging more artsy chill types. That mix doesn’t work for everyone so they’ve lost a lot of girls. They are no better than the rest of Old Row no matter how many of them come on here and say they are.

I like DDD, XO and Kappa best of OR. They are definitely the more chill houses and the girls are nicer... just sayin.

They took the smallest pledge class last year and with taking so many OOS risk loosing girls who transfer if the school isn’t the right fit for them. Also have to look at graduation rates, study abroad, and members who go inactive for a semester. Goes for any house that has any kind of number change from semester to semester. Guessing next year they might take a bigger pledge class but who knows

DDD is a great sorority but does have a ton of transfers because DDD is so strong nationally. Some girl will join at Bama knowing they are transferring to another school where it is harder to get in.

Girls quitting

DDD didn’t lose a lot more girls than other old row houses. The cut throat nature of this site makes me sick

KD lost only 4 - this is really unusual and impressive
AGD lost 12
KKG lost 15
XO lost 18
DDD lost 22
AGD lost 26

Last year:

AGD lost 15
PM lost 17
AXO lost 21
DDD lost 24
KKG lost 28
KD lost 29
XO lost 35

Losing 20-30 girls from fall to spring is normal. As has been said many times, there are several reasons for this. Study abroad, graduating early, etc.

Not sure why this site brings out the worst in people, but it definitely seems to.

DDD is a great sorority but popular with people planning to transfer. It’s a safe bet for anyone knowing they don’t want to stay at Bama because chances are it is strong on other campuses too

DDD is strong everywhere so that’s probably true

DDD is a top three house, take into account campus involvement, good grades, social life, and sisterhood. There will always be people that have problems with certain houses. Often the small amount of people speaking negatively try to shout over the crowd because everyone else knows that to be consistently ranked top speaks for itself, as it does with other top houses as well.

However on another note, yes top tier sororities have their place for a reason, but I think going into rush PNMs take these ranks too seriously. You need to go into it with an open mind to find out where YOU would be happiest and fit in. You could end up in a "top" house and drop because you didn't feel at home. Trust the process and listen to your gut feelings during rush. They are more important than posts from strangers online.

Top three would be subjective. DDD wasn’t one of my top three but it’s a great sorority as they all are at Bama.

DDD is not top 3 but they are a strong house. This won’t become fact just because you keep posting it.
