The third pref was shown to be a non-viable option and a lot of trouble for nothing. Statistics showed that the vast majority of pnm's got their number one or two house, and of those who ended up with their third choice there was a significant drop rate. So there were so very few pnm's who ended up in their number three choice that the decision was made to eliminate it. These studies were done by national NPC at every campus where there were three prefs, and every one of them revealed the same outcome, Bama included, so national NPC recommended that all schools go to two prefs.
