recruitment question

If I have a personal connection with the philanthropy of a sorority, do I mention it during open house to help form connections right away or wait until philanthropy round?

Don't run in during IWT and tell everyone about your connection before you even introduce yourself. If it comes up naturally or you can bring it up in a natural way, go for it. It might make you memorable. But you don't want to be remembered for handling it poorly.

Don’t get too hung up on a house because of their philanthropy. Make sure it’s a good fit for you overall.

Wait until philanthropy round, because your connection with a philanthropy is not the kind of connection that you are trying to establish. You are trying to connect on a personal level with the individual girls you talk to; in other words, to hit it off with them. Actives are looking for girls with personalities that they relate to and look forward to being with again. Your philanthropy connection has nothing to do with your personality or conversation skills, but if you make it to philanthropy round it will be a great talking point for you there.
