Just out of curiosity, how many girls last year received a bid with less than a 3.0 gpa? I feel like this isn’t talked about very often and would be helpful to the girls rushing this year.

I personally COULD HAVE been able to, I got back 5 houses for sisterhood but only loved one of them. Didn’t get it back for pref, so I dropped from rush. But I did get 2 houses back for pref. So if I wanted to, I could’ve.

My daughter joined last year and had a 2.9 gpa and received 5 bids after first round. She had two sororities to choose from at the end. It is unfortunately true that GPA makes a difference, the other houses she went to really liked her but had to cut her bc of gpa so prepare your daughter.

Lol you don’t get a bid after one round and you also can only receive one bid during formal recruitment what are you even saying.

Panhel will probably never release this info. The closest they’ve posted is the average # of houses back for each round by GPA.

To be honest it’s probably a higher number than you would think, since houses are pressured to make quota even if it means taking grade risks. Agree with the above poster that girls with below a 3.0 who do get a bid probably have very few invites back throughout the week.

Alabama has about a 92% placement rate during recruitment, which does not mean that 92% of girls get their first choice but that they get a bid. I was a rho chi and I would say of the girls who are released from recruitment or had their options severely limited (down to 1 to 2 houses) it was almost always related to a low GPA. With anything under a 3.3 I would prepare for your options to be limited and with anything under a 3.0 I would consider waiting a year to go through recruitment.

Odds of getting a bid - very good.

Odds your options will be limited - very, very good.

There is only one bid - for anyone.

However, some get to that bid with “full cards” - meaning getting invited back to the maximum number of houses for each round.

Many, have less than full cards - for a variety of reasons.

Poor grades are one of the more obvious reasons for less than full card and deep cuts. Some girls may be down to one or two houses after IWT.

It is very very rare for a girl to get no bid if she takes all the opportunities presented to her - even if they are very limited options.

Most girls who “don’t get a bid” drop by their decision - most because they dont like their remaining options, but some for other reasons\n\n\n\n\n
