rush ranks

Here’s a rank based on the number of girls who are disappointed in being dropped too soon from in recruitment.

AXO - they cut deep early and many girls feel they were cut too soon

PM - even if girls dont really want PM they want to see how far they can get in recruitment.

KD, XO - again, seem like early cuts have some wishing they were still around at some point.

DDD, KKG and ZTA - DDD and KKG seem to hang around a bit more particularly in early cuts compared to the above. Still great houses. Gonna get “hate” on ZTA, but although many girls don’t want them, they get a buzz during recruitment and kinda like PM girls who want to see if they can hang on at “the looks” house.
More than enough interest and girls upset they were cut (this has become particularly true given APhis recent issues).

PiPhi, AGD - for different reasons still selective, and drop girls who really wanted to be invited back.

DG, ADPi - top of the list of girls with deep
early cuts and less than full cards.

GPhi, APhi - G Phi moving up and APhi down recently.

AOpi, DZ Theta - various versions on hiding on to a bid.

SK - new and trying to get established.

This is completely wrong on so many levels.

Agree I don’t believe this is factually correct based on actual return rates.

AXO is very desired by the good grade, student council types. Not so much by the party crowd. Great house, but I wouldn’t say it’s universally high on everyone’s list.

PM is top of list for those that want to be in a “looks house.” That is definitely not everyone. Another great house, but not everybody’s cup of tea. People seem to either love it or not be interested at all.

KD, XO, AGD and even KKG and DDD, aren’t as desired by out of state, especially non-southern.

Since over half PNMs are out of state, and different type of girls are looking for different type of houses, I don’t really think this rank makes sense.

I get the Ops points in a way, but recruitment plays out in a very personal way. For everyone.

Very few get cards that follow a GR rank logic. It’s a mix. The “very best” pnms may get full cards of their preferred houses, but that is VERY VERY rare.

A “good” rush is a full card throughout but even that typically involves some top and bottom houses - in plenty of cases even at pref with only two houses to choose from.

MANY pnms have less than full cards, and ranks quickly mean NOTHING.

You begin to assess each visit and opinions can change round to round.

After IWT, the only round where houses are all visited, your rank is based only on the houses and options you have left. And with deep cuts you may find you are evaluating houses you never thought you wanted, but at the same time - enjoying!

The OP does note the houses that cut deep early among girls who ranked these houses high. But these houses quickly become irrelevant to the pnm as they are no longer a choice.

What is suspect about GR and many posts is that no active I know goes back and dwells on a rank of the houses that were not choices as they moved through recruitment. The house you find is almost always “best” to you. \n\n\n\n\n

I think this makes sense- however l believe everyone will find the house they where meant to be in.

I agree it’s really personal, and maybe from the OP’s Alabama hometown they see it this way, but as an out of state student, this was not my experience.

I’m from a big city out of state and some of the OR houses that are high on your list seemed very “Alabama” to me and didn’t interest me at all. Most out of state girls in my rho chi felt the same.

There are two views on recruitment.

The first is that “the process” works in placing girls in the house that is best for them and there is really no value judgment on where you land top/bottom/best/worst you simply find your fit.

The other view is that the top houses get the best pnms and the bottom houses get the (excuse me, but) bottom in a competitive manner where the top houses/pnms have the most control and the bottom houses/pnms the least in selection.

The reality lies somewhere between these extreme views.

The Op does a decent job in defining the competitive aspects of recruitment at Bama although there are plenty of personal experiences that can refute this as well as another perspective that suggests recruitmentnis more about finding a fit.

Actually, this thread is productive and valuable to PNMs. It has truths throughout and as an ACTIVE at Bama today, resonates with me! Worthwhile post and bumping for this reason.

For what it’s worth I do believe the phrase “trust the process”. It worked for me. And while it may not seem like it’s working during recruitment....it will make sense to you later. Hope it works for all of you! Good luck to ‘19 PNMs!

You can not go through recruitment here without realizing the reality that there are houses that girls want and houses that want girls.

Yes it’s true that there are personal variations on the trend that are different for every pnm, but we all know the houses that tend to populate full cards after IWT cuts (and remain on the fullest cards) and those that remain on the cards of girls that suffered deep cuts.

The OP captures it pretty well although I do t agree with all of the commentary.
