why do a lot of southern sorority girls
by: DeezNutsact like they live in southern fantasy land (not in a bad way, but they try to live up to the southern belle gone with the wind stereotype and take formals and socials very seriously kind of way)? I don't mean no offense, but I'm sure all of you are great girls.

Formals and socials are a lot of fun. There are a lot of them in Greek life because sororities and fraternities are social organizations. Maybe we are more social in the South, IDK, but my parents have always attended parties and hosted parties so I'm used to that being what everyone does, and a lot of us even took cotillion, boys too, which is another level but whatever. The guys that I hang out with have the same background and are comfortable at these things and know how to have a good time and same for my sorority sisters. If that's not what you're used to or you don't get it or that's not your cup of tea then that's fine, but it's not a fantasyland.

OP should open your eyes and look at the rest of the country. I'm from Colorado and I took Cotillion. My boyfriend did as well, and he's from Wisconsin.
Cotillion isn't Southern

Kudos to your parents for ensuring your proper education in the social graces. But it is a fact that cotillion is definitely Southern in origin and has been ubiquitous throughout the South for decades and decades. In the 1980's the concept caught on with parents in other areas of the country, so yes, it happens now up north and out west too. Just like a lot of people use y'all now. It's all good.
