rush

by:

REALISTICALLY I am terrified to go into rush. My grades are not very good & by that I mean 2.8/2.9 BUT I have rec letters (1-2 per house) & I’d say, realistically, im a 7.68 out of 10, in looks. I was super involved in highschool and my social media isn’t bad. Because of my involvement I was super drawn to greeklife. I’m honestly just so scared that I’m gonna go through with rush & get completely crushed when I don’t get a bid because of my grades. Is there even a point in rushing or should I wait until spring & see if any houses are doing open bidding or just wait until the following year?? I’m really kind of stressed about this.. I’m scared that if I don’t get a bid, me being upset about it will ruin my year

Wait till next year. No respectable house will take you with that unless you’re drop dead gorgeous or some other big Alabama name. Save yourself the time and money.

I say go for it! If you wait there’s no guarantee your college GPA will be higher. Freshman year is a transition and if you struggle academically that probably will not change. Also, there is so much to experience in a house your freshman year. Dont miss out. Just be sure to keep an open mind and be open to all houses. I doubt your chances of the better next year. Good luck!

Could you take some community college courses over the summer and pull straight A’s? It’ll count towards your college GPA but it may show houses you’re not as much of a grade risk and you can get some prerequisites out of the way. If you do this send an updated transcript to every house.

I rushed with a 2.9 and ended up in a top old row house! From what I know my house and many others are allowed to take 2 grade risks. My house considers a grade risk as someone with below a 3.0. If you’re cute and (not to sound snobby) come from money, then you honestly should be fine.
