They are an “alternative sorority experience” super small. If I’m right, less than 60 girls. Their house isn't on sorority row, it’s actually on Jefferson where frats are.

They've been told by the university that they're going to lose their house next year if they can't fill it, but hardly any of their members want to live in. And if they lose their house, their national will probably shut them down. They're already not very supportive because they're low-key embarrassed to have such a weak chapter at Alabama. The chapter alumnae are pretty much the only reason they haven't already folded.

They were actually growing for a while, and at one point it looked like they might get enough members to move into one of the swing houses, but Sigma Kappa coming back basically killed their momentum.

Unfortunately, most PNMs just aren't looking for an alternative-type chapter. ADX is struggling too, and Kappa Beta Gamma folded after less than a year.

Alum here and had no idea KBG folded so fast. What happened? What's going to happen to all the girls that joined them?

Nothing at all will happen to those girls who joined; the organization had nothing going for it in the first place, was doomed from the beginning, so it's like it never happened. As predicted.

I think some of the girls that were in KBG did COB or formal rush (since KBG was UGC and not a part of Panhellenic they can) and are in other houses now or just aren't in a sorority at all. From what I heard their nationals just wanted the money from an Alabama chapter and didn't want to actually put in the work to get it started.

Lots of tea was spilled on their page. The chapter had some great girls who were failed by their shady-ass national. They begged for help in learning how to run the chapter, develop their programming, etc., but all they got were bills. Finally, in spite of having given them no help at all. their national shut them down because "they didn't work hard enough." :/

KBG went on an expansion spree a couple of years ago, with a focus on big Greek schools. Supposedly they've been trying to get their chapter count up so they can join the NPC, but surely this isn't the way to do it. They also colonized at Kentucky and UT Austin around the same time — those chapters still seem to be active, but I'd be curious to know if they've been dealing with the same BS.

They do informal rush, not normal recruitment, so don’t count on meeting them then. Ik they’ve been going through some growing pains but I doubt their nationals will let the chapter here close, they’ve been here forever

SDT is a fine, smaller sorority which has chosen over the years to recruit at a separate time than the rest of the NPC sororities. They usually hold recruitment events about a week or two after formal recruitment - they do put up posters and put it on their Facebook page and Instagram accounts, so watch for them if you're interested. They have around 80 members after their recruitment. Very strong, close group. They have the same types of events (swaps, forma and semi-formal parties, philanthrophy projects) that the other sororities have. They have a small univesity-owned house (on Jefferson near the fraterntieis, as stated earlier) but no meals are served there, so it's MUCH more economical (and they don't have to have lots of members to help pay the bills).
