national greek financials
by: curiousI am an accounting major and was looking up some stuff on our national site and just ran across our corporate financial statements published on our site. This got me curious if all the frats/sororitys have to start disclosing these. I tried to check out a different groups national page and could not find. I did not really look too hard because I remembered I could just go to Propublica and pull up any frat/sorority financial 990 using just that one site. I pulled up a few to see if our group is healthy compared to others financially. I thought it was interesting but im in accounting. If you want to check your group, use corporate headquarters city to help find correct one and also make sure its not your foundation or housing corp. Just curious, has anyone noticed if your national is publishing financials on their site?

If an organization is Tax exempt then by law they must furnish their financials. Doesn't mean on a website, but hey have to make available in some form, this can be in the form of an annual report.
As you mentioned a "National" could be several entities, an Operations part, a foundation, a housing corp... Each completely separate entities according to the IRS filings and have separate filings. In fact, they cannot mix money between them.
