preference night

I was getting my outfits together and I was wondering how formal preference night was? I mean obviously it isn't long dresses. But like one you would wear to a school dance? And like shoes dressy ones or just simple pumps?

Don't dress like you're going to a school dance. Dress like you're going to a formal event, like an evening wedding. Wear nice pumps.

It is NOT formal. Don't think long. Think tastefully short, dressy, pretty.

wondering... Looking at the greek chic pics for this year, the girls don't look all that formal. Could I potentially wear a really nice sundress (like a skit day dress) for pref?
