going down
by: DownwardLooks like the Greek numbers from fall are lower than last 2 years. Do you think this site is impacting people joining? Why the decline?

It’s practically $8,000 a year without living in the house. That is just stupid money now. By far the most expensive Greek community in the nation. Some houses don’t even let you go up the stairs and are incredibly hard to ever live n on top of that they have all these Greek points and hours and they bill you for that too. My parents came out here for parents weekend and could get past the first floor (an old row house) I can’t get up there either. This is an awful place that makes no sense if you end up in one of the houses where you are like a visitor.

There were 159 guys that paid for IFC rush this past fall '18 but either didn't get a bid or didn't accept one. I've talked to a couple of these guys and they all said they weren't happy with their options so didn't end up rushing. Might not have been this site specific, but definitely seemed to be people's attitudes, University vs Jefferson, friends, etc.
IFC fraternities lost out on $475K last semester alone. Over 4 years thats almost $4 million lost. Seems IFC and all fraternities need to step up and do a better job in helping these guys find their place in Greek life. It benefits all of us if they join.

What about the fact that some fraternities get their pledge classes over the summer and are 'full' by the time rush starts? That never used to happen; rush started when everyone came back for the start of school. Sure, some kids were on the houses' radars already, but no one got an actual bid until rush week. It's getting ridiculous. Some houses are starting so early they rush high school kids before they even graduate. Not exaggerating, I have known of a couple kids getting bids even before they were officially admitted here. No wonder a lot of guys don't want to rush when the deck is already stacked against them before they even get here.

IFC needs to tell them that rush here is informal, and very competitive for good houses, and encourage them to make contact early and often. Their website emphasizes formal rush in the fall, which is a non-event. I doubt that very many hear the truth on greekrank. They're set up for disappointment.

Your first paragraph makes zero sense; "didn't end up rushing." If they registered and didn't get a bid or didn't accept one then they rushed. Not everyone finds their place, at least at first. This is nothing new; it has always been that way.
