snap bids

I copied this from another post. Snap bids are ways for a sorority to make quota if they haven't and if the girl they're extending the snap bid to is well liked by the house. Basically, if a girl has to cut House A so she can make room on her schedule for Houses B, C, and D, House A can extend her a snap bid if Houses B, C, and D do not bid her. Houses that cut girls will more than likely not extend her a snap bid. It's a way for girls who are completely cut from all of their houses to get a bid. Snap bids for UA are extended on bid day so the other pledges usually can't differentiate between girls who get snap bids and girls who get regular bids.
Maximizing your options means that if you get let's say 3 invites to pref round and you only write 1 house on your pref card instead of all 3

Houses actually like upperclassmen because, as a whole, upperclassmen are much less of a reputation risk than freshman can be.
Also an upperclassmen with a good GPA has already proven she can handle the coursework of college and still get good grades, unlike some freshmen.

Snap bids are given out at the end of the week, right before bid day, by sororities who were not able to reach quota. They are given to girls who the soroity may have dropped earlier in the week but the girl did not.
