by: RusheeI'm from Kansas and am coming to UA in the fall. I'm planning on rushing. I have a 4.1 GPA and am good looking. I come from an upper-class family. What are my chances of getting in to an Old Row sorority?

Just keep an open mind, you sound like you have a lot going for you. Some of it matters what you actually do during rush, like do not let the active do all of the talking... Ask questions, engage in conversation, and SMILE! You have to make a memorable impression on every girl you talk to and you would be surprised how your mind changes during rush compared to before. Sure, you may still want some old row houses, but you may end up liking a few new rows too. They're are a lot of good houses at UA, do not narrow your focus and remember you have to do the most work during, every time you revisit a house.

My son was accepted by many fine institutions, not quite a 4.0, however with a 34 on his ACT, Alabama made a big push for him. Alabama surprised us with how good of job they did in convincing our son to accept an opportunity to participate in their Honors College. Don't sell Alabama short! Big strides are being made in recruiting fine acedemic talent and I believe you will witness the "prestige ranking" for the University continue to grow over the next several years.
