frats
by: RedI'm coming from the north and am planning on joining a frat. Which houses are the top houses on this campus? Also is informal rush the way to do it? In my state, formal rush is usually a failure because the good frats are already full. Let me know!

UA is a very traditional school, so it can be more difficult for students north of the Mason-Dixon to join certain fraternities and sororities. Still, that doesn't mean you won't be able to receive a bid from a great house. In my opinion, the strongest fraternities at UA (in no order) are: DKE, SAE, KA and Phi Gam. However, these are old row fraternities and do not extend bids to yanks. Honestly, the culture is so different you probably would not feel comfortable at these houses. I'm in a 1st Circle sorority and these are the houses we usually do stuff with, so they are the ones I am most fimilar with. But there are new row fraternities that I have heard great things about too! My recommendation to you is to contact the houses you are interested in as soon as possible. Don't be shy and just be open minded, confident and polite. I am sure you will find a house that is a good fit for you. Welcome to UA and good luck!

But every house at UA(including old row but excluding ka) has at least a few northern guys.
