What kind of clothes are big for sorority girls ? I'm from the north so there might be regional differences, and I don't want to stick out.
What brands of clothes ? Jeans ?

Girls usually wear nike shorts, chacos or nike tennis shoes, and oversized/colorful tshirts going to and from class --but with full make up and a high, messy bun. But if you want to look cute going to class, regular clothes are fine, too. Alabama is a little more conservative than say Cali, so more mainstream clothes are popular as opposed to vintage or funky. If you aren't super skinny, don't wear cut off anything. A lot of southern and college town companies (ie southern style, the shirt shop, etc.) are great places to look for extras. Anything cute and stylish up north would be cute and stylish here for going out or going on dates. It's warmer here, so light fabrics are preferred except when it's winter and bitter cold. Jeans aren't usually worn by girls until it gets cold (so practically mid-October!) Anything houndstooth (but not necessarily for rush dresses--that's trying way too hard)!
Guys usually have top siders, visors, polos, t-shirts, button downs, etc. With guys, it's also good to look into certain brands that are popular in Tuscaloosa (the ones I listed above for girls work equally for guys). Guys are usually pretty easy. As long as you don't look too much like a skater kid or whatever, you'll be fine. My bf wears a lot of cargo shorts, sperries, and polo t-shirts. He's not even in a fraternity anymore. It's just what's fashionable down here.

this was true until you got to the houndstooth, cargo shorts and visors ahahahaah DON't wear those but pretty much everything else is true. I'm from oos too and I am STILL getting used to the southern fashion and trends and it's been a year....it's quite the change but the good news is, most of the southern style is timeless.

Good catch! Idk why I wrote cargo, I meant khaki shorts. Definitely don't wear cargo. And I know plenty of guys who wear visors haha. And the Houndstooth was directed at the girls, so if you're a girl, it's very fashionable to wear houndstooth

Now y'all are just nitpicking. It's not hard to confuse the words khaki and cargo when you're in a hurry writing paragraphs of info. Honest mistake and I'm glad someone caught it. And I'm old row and I wear a little Houndstooth something to most game days. It's not GDI or new row, it's our team's "official" pattern. I hate when people are anti-houndstooth. That shows no school spirit. That said, I was raised an Alabama fan and have had Houndstooth in my wardrobe since birth (not to mention it's popular everywhere else in the country right now).

Prints aren't discouraged, but if you're going to wear a print, it's better if it's subtle. For example, blog.dormify.com/style-notes/freshmen-rush-in-style have some subtle patterns. Basically, it doesn't need to be too crazy or giant flowers everywhere. Prints can be worn if they aren't going to outshine you as a person--take this as law for recruitment.

No. Those are preferred bc they're considered very stylish, but most girls (including myself) don't usually get them bc they can be very expensive. They're a good example of what prints and patterns you can wear. If they fit well, too, they look amazing on a girl's body

I will add this....
If Lily is truly “who you are” and you’re closet Is already packed with it - go for it. It will help you “find your fit”. Otherwise, don’t try to wear it to try to make a positive impression. , it won’t work.

That said, I'm not sure if you meant which one is preferred. Vineyard Vines, Southern Tide, etc. is more game day attire/casual than Polo and Brooks Brothers.

This post is so 2013. If you were living in 2013, it would be khaki shorts, a polo and those dumb ass glasses and sperries. For hair it would be a Crew Cut, Bama Bangs or Buzz Cut
