Is it true that if I maximize my options that I am guaranteed a bid?

More than likely, yes, but unlike schools like Texas, Alabama doesn't guarantee placement if you make it to pref. The chances are very small that you'd end up totally bidless, but it could happen.

If you still have three houses left for pref though (which is the maximum possible amount), you're guaranteed a bid.
