by: AnonI’m interested in rushing next fall but was wondering from what it looks like on the site if this sorority is worth considering. My friends are in DZ at different universities but was curious about what they are like at bama. I know they have a new house and a pretty good 2018 class. From the reviews, are they really that bad? Are they not liked at all on campus??? I though bama had one of the best Greek life’s. Lmk

Greek life here is definitely one of the best in the nation. Don’t pick a sororiry based on what you know of other chapters. DZ here is considered “bottom tier” if tiers are something you care about. Even if you wanted DZ, rush here is difficult and you may not receive a bid.

No Sorority is Good and no Sorority is bad, and this tiers ranking is so BS. Each sorority has strong academics, strong philanthropy and strong social life.
If you go into rush looking for certain Greek Letters or avoiding Greek Letters there is a great chance you will come away very disappointed. Each sorority has its own group personality overall and also has smaller niches within. This change every year based on the membership.
Go into rush looking for the sorority that you fit into, regardless of their letters or so called tier status. What is their academic focus, do you relate to their philanthropy strongly, how do you feel around the members? That are the important questions you should be thinking of.
Last note, one chapter's personality at one school will definitely not be the same at another school so just because your HS friends are in a certain sorority at a different school does not mean you will have the same experience at Bama.

Why is it considered bottom tier?
