not southern
by: CaligirlI'm from California and planning on rushing next school year and I've heard that top sororities only choose southern girls or prefer southern girls. Does being from California decrease my chances of getting into a top sorority or just any sorority at all?

OR houses are known for picking a more southern PC but it doesn’t mean you won’t get in. In my house we have a lot if cali girls ( not old row) being from cali wont decrease your chances of getting in a sorority. however, you may/may not have a lot of OR houses. (just generalizing, no hate on OR, they are just generally more southern)

I am from California and went through rush. I preffed both OR and NR houses. I ended up choosing a NR house, while my other California friends chose and OR house. I had an amazing experience while my other friends felt out of place. They said the OR Houses were super cliquey and would not socialize with them.
If I were you, I wouldn't let the glitz and glam of "Old Row" determine your decision. Choose the best house that fits you and the house you can see yourself in for the long haul.
