Theta is not very top anywhere, even in the big10 they may be upper-mid, but not the top of the top. They are upper top at Michigan State, and some of the other big10 schools tho.

I have no idea about theta but I know everyone says that phi mu and aoii tend to be stronger in the south, and when u think about it it makes sense because aoii's headquarters are in Tennessee and phi mu's are in Georgia. It's probably way easier to visit those chapters and help them and give them more attention. That probably plays a part, but again have no idea where thetas HQ is.

Like it was said before, it's just the Carolinas, Alabama, and Mississippi. Which the latter 2 states struggle with stepping outside of their traditions anyway. So 4 top, 4 bottom, 4 no chapter, and 2 mid. That is NOT terrible. If there were a chapter at UT, they'd probably be in the upper echelons (based on the nearby schools of Vandy, Georgia, and UK). We know how the Theta chapter at Ole Miss did, though, and I think chapters at Arkansas and Miss St would follow suit.

Hi I'm an AOII from the midwest and the chapters we have at my school that Bama has are AXO, AOII, APHI, XO, and DZ (and sigma kappa) and I can honestly say that me and my friends in those chapters all agree that Alabama has the strongest chapters for us nationally and we really look up to them (even Alpha Phi regardless of everything). We are always shocked to hear how intense recruitment is for you guys and how many people you guys have in your chapters and we think it's really cool, so regardless of whatever "tier" those houses are they are still strong in the eyes of the rest of us! I don't know any Thetas as we don't have it at my school but I'm sure the same is true for them even though I see them ranked bottom on here!

The issue with Theta is that they have had that national intellectual reputation for many years, so they have developed an intellectual base that has pushed them to embrace "good" progressive ideas, but honestly do not really fit with Greek Life. Two come to mind. First, while all sororities are pro-woman, it seems Theta is more vocal/active about being pro-woman (why they refuse to join the Machine and got singled out in that NY Times article). On liberal campuses, this is great, but at conservative ones, not so much. Second, and even more of an issue for Theta, their national has highly embraced and pushed the idea of overall personal value and inclusiveness and their national PNM selection process reflects this. Because the principle foundation of the Greek community is the offer of exclusive memberships, I personally do not think this inclusive model will work well for them.

I know it's impossible to come up with a national "rank" because all the sororities are so different school to school, but just hear me out. This would be how I would rank them nationally based on how well known they are, how much national attention they get, how many active chapters/members they have, where they usually fall in ranks, etc.
I think they're all pretty interchangable/equal within levels so I just listed them alphabetically within tiers.

I struggled with whether or not to put DDD, Phi Mu and AGD up a tier. It's hard because Phi Mu and AGD are usually hit or miss, and DDD is usually good however they're middle at a lot of places so I put them in the middle. I'm sure some people will disagree with this because they've had different experiences but this is just how I've perceived them. Feel free to switch some things around, again this is just what I personally have noticed!!
And the bottom row does not mean those aren't great organizations with lots to offer their girls, they just don't have as much of a national recognition which is perfectly okay!!
