alpha phi recruiting process exposed
by: ...
This is making the rounds on Michigan's GR page. It's about the Michigan chapter but it wouldn't surprise me if all APhi chapters have to recruit this way.

I can't believe that people are trying to compare recruiting based on looks/image the same as recruiting based on hometown or high school. And i don't know where ive seen it before but I've seen the same statements in other discussions -- are you alpha phi damage control? It's not the same and you know it and the stretch to make the comparison is so bad I feel embarrassed for you. It's like aphi handed out talking points - like-minded, hometown recruitment, it is the same thing everywhere.
If alpha phi wants to recruit based on looks - then fine. Do so. But at least own it and stop trying to make it sound like you care about the quality of girls you bid. Because it is painfully transparent that you don't. But if that is your strategy, and you are so convinced it is on the up and up, stay with it (just so you know, that dumb blonde rep probably won't change though).
However, STOP judging your own members and their recruitment ability on their appearance. If they are good enough to wear your letters, they are good enough to rep you to anybody during recruitment. Does alpha phi nationals have no shame?
Speaking of alpha phi nationals - they are clearly in damage control mode right now. Not sure when the change to their website was made but the photo carousel is relatively new. And they clearly know their national reputation....

Yeah, the two things that are really messed up here are nationals’ involvement and the coffee date process to form bump groups. Chapters themselves can do a lot of dumb and shallow things during recruitment, but they’re college students. Nationals should not be dictating who the chapter gets to bid, based on whether they’re hot enough. (She literally describes nationals singlehandedly trying to blackball a girl the chapter already knew and liked, solely because she wasn’t pretty enough!) Everything she writes about HQ’s involvement here sounds terrible and should not be happening. Same thing with the coffee dates—you should not need to keep rushing your own sorority once you’re in it. If you make your bump groups that focused on looks, girls are going to notice and it’s going to destroy your sisterhood.
