does it even matter?

by: legacy

Hey y'all.. I'm planning on attending Bama next year and I am an AGD legacy at UA. Anyways, I was just wondering if being a legacy there specifically really counts for much/ is valued during rush? Not trying to stir anything up, I just know the times have changed since my mom went through!

Alabama is the only school where legacy actually matters LOL. Obvi it matters at other schools too but not the way it matters here. There are sororities who will take you exclusively because you are a legacy. It won’t even matter if you fit in or not. Old Row runs on things like that. Legacy, connections, which high school you went to... lol.

Being a legacy won't matter much at any chapter, except that you may get an invite to the 2nd round. OR sororities drop more legacies than other chapters.

legacy is definitely important here at bama, and it definitely makes you stand out from other PNMs. whether or not that solidifies your acceptance really depends on the house and who they are looking for that year

Being a legacy does ensure you get a good look over, but that is about it. If you are not a good fit and the chapter is going to drop you, every chapter has different requirements. Some are required to invite you back for several parties, some are required to drop you right away.

In my house, being a legacy definitely saves you from being "lost in the shuffle" or "falling through the cracks", but doesn't guarantee that you won't be dropped. You still have to be a good fit!
