cut by “bottom”
by: curiousso obviously we all have heard that girls get cut all the time from “top houses” and sometimes end in a “bottom” house that they don’t want. i am wondering if this has happened to anyone the opposite way, where they wanted a “bottom” house but got a “top” house instead

Tbh I wanted alpha phi so bad during rush despite everything I read on this site in the weeks leading up to rush. I ranked then 1 on my list but on bid day I opened up my card and saw I got a bid to a top OR house that I had ranked third. Ended up being super happy in my current house and I wouldn’t change a thing!People are gonna say I’m a troll or I’m lying but that’s the honest to god truth

I have a friend who spent the morning of pref day sobbing because Theta dropped her and she ended up in an OR house. I also know girls who ranked “lower” NR house #1 on pref above OR houses and would have been really upset on bid day if they’d gotten the OR house instead of their #1
#9by: Why PNMs pick NR over OR
1) Legacies! PNMs who really want to keep their sorority in the family.
2) Someone who genuinely liked NR and confident enough to define their own sorority experience and doesn't need a predetermined rep to define it for them.
3) Someone smart enough to realize that since all sororities have memberships around 400, all houses are too big and diversified to really be pigenholed into any true reputation. They also know houses with such big memberships have all kinds of members, so they will find friends snd jave fun no matter what house they join.
#10by: wasn't NR/OR but
I had two NR houses at pref this year and I fell in love with and listed first was what this site would consider one of the lowest houses over a top NR house. I ended up in the top one and am happy, but I really loved the lower house and still wonder if I should have told them more clearly how much I loved them.
