why are pledge parties not allowed?

by:

Alum here. We used to have 3-4 pledge parties a week. Why are they not allowed? How do the freshmen girls meet the freshmen boys?

They aren't 'not allowed' and there were never 3-4 a week. Go back in your hole.

Well you obviously don’t go here anymore either. Pledge parties aren’t allowed this year whatsoever. Yeah it sucks but it is what it is I guess.

What? They are definitely “not allowed” and when I was a freshman a couple years ago we had 4 at least a week

Cuz it would be 100 plus sorority pledges to 30-40 fraternity pledges (in a big house). Seems dumb

the new girls in my house are specifically told not to attend pledge parties and that if theyre caught at one then it will be followed by punishments directly from our standards board.

the biggest reason is that it's not safe. the houses that the pledge parties are held at are old and rickety and frankly shouldn't hold 100+ people at once. the parties also aren't registered with the school so it's a huge liberality thing. like if one of our new girls got hurt at a pledge party or something it could turn into a whole legal thing.

also, freshmen girls have literally no trouble meeting guys lol. they already have dinner swaps and regular swaps. they're around pledges 24/7 during hoco week. and if they're still having trouble all they have to do is walk around a dinning hall or like rounders lol. pledge parties just aren't worth the risk and aren't even that fun tbh.
