Obviously there are a given amount of girls who graduate early and a couple who drop, it’s pretty obvious which houses have issues that go beyond just the normal amount of girls you lose each semester

What is interesting too on the spring grade report is that very little distinguishes the houses in grades. All except dz GPhi and APhi have similar numbers.

Yeah I was surprised GPhi lost so few girls. I don’t buy into the fact that high retention = perfect sisterhood, but despite all the claims on here that they have sisterhood issues they clearly have much better retention than the other houses at the bottom on the GPA scale (and ADPi who has great grades and supposedly a strong sisterhood)

I don’t mean to throw my own house under the bus but there’s no way we have 424 actives. There’s just no way. I’m not saying they intentionally flubbed it but.. it’s not correct. More likely they’re just not keeping up with resignations well.

Makes me wonder how accurate all this really is, because the university kind of has to take our word for it.

WHAT? Zeta lost 62 and DZ lost 74? That's A LOT. I knew ADPi lost a lot but seeing Zeta and DZ too? This just seems so weird.

By: ???

DZ and Zeta have always had retention issues from what I know. There’s a reason they always have spring PCs too

couldn't some of these "losses" be girls who are so smart they graduated early? Or girls who graduated period? I think the numbers are pretty normal and not significant except for the bottom 4 on this list. What could be going on there? Only real facts please, not rude ones.

I literally said in the post that there are girls who graduate early and every house will have a few that drop. I also said it was obvious which houses clearly have more than that number.

My house has MAYBE five fall graduates every year... I think last year we had two. Most of what you see is not graduations. Transfers is more likely.

I'm confused...

First of all, what's the difference between the "total members" number and the "total active members" number... I get some girls go inactive to study abroad and stuff but in the Fall report the difference between those 2 numbers is huge for all the houses.

And second, how did you get 209 for Alpha Phi? 482-297=185?

by: How many

Sorry my math was wrong on alpha phi, the lost 185 but also had 12 COBs which means they lost 197 of what they started with. I accidentally added the 12 COBs twice I guess which is why I put 209!

Wow. Is anyone else like absolutely shocked that they went through and terminated nearly 200 girls??? Like that's just absurd to me. They literally got rid of half of their chapter.

Alpha phi had a huge percentage of girls who didn’t pay dues at all so I’m sure that was part of it. I bet there was some crossover between financial delinquency and low grades.

Active members are initiated members. Add active members and initiated members to get total members.

Sorry. Actives + new members = total members

We all know that APhi lost so many girls because they had to clear house due to the scandals and general issues in the house, but DZ, Zeta, and ADPi clearly have a mix of drama and retention issues going on internally

By: F
by: So

I know DZ and Zeta had a lot of internal problems that created a lot of headaches for their members. My roommate is a DZ and she actually dropped after the fall semester because she just didn't like it anymore. She told me they had a lot of issues solidifying their exec board and that after their elections the newly elected president had to step down because of drama related issues... But ADPi? I genuinely haven't heard anything about them and they seem to be a pretty lowkey house. I really wonder what mustve happened for nearly 100 girls to drop/be dropped

Campus Total is 355; if no APhis from that listed 285 number graduated all Alpha Phi need pin on bid day is at least 70 young women to make CT. Let's also remember there have been posts here on GR wailing against the huge numbers of women in our new member classes over the past decade, so perhaps lower NM numbers this fall will be the start of a beautiful and needed trend.

My guess is once large cuts were made, members realized dues would go up. Higher dues plus scandal = more members choosing to drop.

By: Just guessing

I also know girls who dropped after they cleaned house because most of their friends got kicked out so they figured they’d leave too

Imo the prospect of higher dues probably wouldn’t make many girls drop. If you can’t afford dues going up then you probably couldn’t really afford Greek life in the first place

What I mean is that I don’t see their dues going up significantly (like people on here are implying) so I don’t imagine it will make a big difference.
Yes they have less girls, but a lot of expenses (food being one of the biggest costs in every houses dues I’m pretty sure) are proportionate to the number of girls, so they’re not going to be paying for food for 482 girls when they only have 297 actives. I don’t have any insider info, but I just don’t see their dues suddenly becoming the most expensive on the row

"If you can't afford dues going up then you probably couldn't afford greek life to begin with" is so rude, people wouldn't drop because they can't afford it they'd drop because they don't want to pay extra for an organization like alpha phi

It's not rude at all. It's a statement of fact. Dues and fees are going to increase each year - usually by less than 10% but possibly more. If you join a house and can barely pay the bill at the beginning, you're not going to be able to cover those yearly increases.

Shouldn't Phi Mu and ADPi be switched? Phi Mu has a good sisterhood?

Tells you not to believe fake news in greek rank when people spew junk about some chapter’s sisterhood. Numbers don’t lie. The average natural mid year attrition is in the low twenties.

If these numbers are correct it is very telling! The drop between XO and Zeta is huge. This kinda supports the theory that OR has less drops and good for Theta, Pi Phi, DG and especially AOPi and GPhi.

Ok, this is my educated guess for ADPi. The way the university makes these grade reports is they gather all the GPAs from sorority women and compile them. They then send it to each house, who has to verify their roster and remove/add any girls they need to (I used to do this for my house). My guess is maybe the past few semesters ADPi didn’t do a very good job of this and now it’s showing that a lot dropped at once.

OR, alternate theory, they buckled down on grades/behavior this semester and kicked out a ton of people.

It wouldn't surprise me that an officer did a poor job. Which also means an advisor is doing a poor job because they're not helping train the officer and checking to make sure things are done.
The good thing is that when an officer does a bad job and causes problems, usually somebody in the chapter decides "enough of this crap, I'm going to do this right." They run for office get it, and all is well again.
