Who agrees that it is time to get rid of this 19th century embarrassment? If we want to move forward and not be the laughing stock of the entire country, we have to throw off the yoke of these dictators. We don't have to act like Col. Sanders just because we're 'Bama. It is possible to invite black men and women to be a part of our greek system without having our entire society collapse. It could make it much stronger, just like it did the football team.

Come on, guys. If we all do it at once, we can be successful. Think about it.

You can't just call racism a tradition and go with it. And your statement that pledge traditions have to change because you have a black pledge is ridiculous. Other chapters of every house at 'Bama have black members and do fine. It just takes courage and apparently Bear Bryant got all the courage at 'Bama -- we don't seem to have any left.

True, the football team is strong because of our black athletes. No reason why they shouldn't make our greek system stronger too. Good point.

Well, this thread is a surprise. I know there are lots of people who are down on the machine, but they are such a cultural phenomenon that I never thought I'd hear an outcry to disband it.
