bottom tier at big school vs top at small school?
by: Serious QuestionSo obviously it can be pretty to break into even a mid-tier chapter at some of these huge SEC schools. Personally, do ya'll it's better to go ahead and take a bid from a really low chapter at a great school, or is it better to leave the SEC and be near the top somewhere else?

I would take a "bottom tier" sorority at Alabama over a top tier sorority at a small school for sure. Especially since all the sororities at Alabama are prevelant enough nationally to have good networking/national recognition. I would rather be a Theta at Alabama than an AST where it's top.

You are comparing two very different experiences. Your experience at bama/a large chapter at a big Greek school would be very different than being in a chapter at a school with a smaller Greek system.
For starters, you chapter would have 400 girls vs maybe 100ish. At bama and most large Greek focused schools you’ll have a nice house that has a meal plan, nice study areas, lounges etc. At a small chapter you may have a small house or chapter room but you wouldn’t have the amenities at the large schools.
Big chapters also equal more social events (swaps every week, date parties every month, nice formals) I know some small chapters only have have a handful of swaps each semester, one date party and one formal because they don’t have the funding like big chapters.
Small chapters do allow you the chance to really know the girls in your chapter, but it makes it harder to fly under the radar / girls know EVERYTHING Your doing, meaning exec and standards will also know everything your doing. The big chapters also guarantee you will Find a group of girls you’ll mesh with within your 120 girl pledge class vs. At a small chapter your PC may be 20-40 girls.
