Alabama panhellenic only recognizes mothers/grandmothers/sisters as legacy because there are so many legacies. Houses like tri Delt and kappa and KD can fill 2-3 pledge classes with just legacies which is why it is limited to not include aunts. However you can list your aunt on the "greek affiliations" part of your r?sum? and she can write you a letter of rec.

Just because you are a legacy doesn't mean you will automatically be bid. It might influence how many parties you are invited back to, but the organizations are not OBLIGATED to bid you. In house legacies are usually given special consideration, but not guarantees. Keep an open mind during rush. Your mom's house might not end up being yours, and that is really OK. Relax, have fun, and good luck!

Alabama Panhellenic has nothing to do with saying who is a legacy, only the house does. You have to check on the national site but it won't matter much either way.

A direct legacy in ZTA is someone who's grandmother, mother, or sister is a ZTA.
Indirect are cousins, aunts, etc.
So also the alumnaes activities count in. In your aunt is active and donates — good. If not ...
