Seconds fom within the state of Alabama and whoever else they can get to pledge there(many out staters who have no clue when they show up). Therefore, they're from all over. A non-entity.

Sigma Nu isn't better than Phi Gam, and they aren't better than several new row houses.

I've never seen nor heard of a new boy making a "beeline" to delta chi. They wand over there if they don't know what else to do.

Anybody making that beeline over to DX is one confused freshman.

Are most likely in underperforming old row fraternities.

Honestly, after the year they've had, I can see a lot of freshman "beelining" to DX.

did have a nice year!
Pledge class second to none --- great kids from heart of dixie and I would match the yankees we got (through referrals by DX brothers) with any kid in any house as athletes, soldiers, scholars and great kids

Take away the hostility and negativity in these responses and there is a lot of truth in them. Typically, you'll see rushees deciding between Beta, DTD, DX, KE and maybe another house such as Pi Kapp. It's simply the type of guys they attract. You won't find many graduates from in state prep academies or private schools in these new row houses. And most won't come from old money. Not all, but most. I'm speaking very generally. The posts below probably has it right though, 60% come from Alabama. Maybe 30% from surrounding states. And 10% from outside the south. I can't say if newboys were making a beeline to DX because I just don't know. However, they did manage to pull in large pledge classes the past year. Visit each house and decide for yourself. Each of these houses are built on traditional Southern values. So no matter where you are coming from, you will be molded and conformed to these principles.

definitely some old money in new row. Most of the top new row houses like OX, SX, DX, Pi Kapp and Pike were founded in the 1910s or 1920s here. They may not be as old as old row, but they still predate a large portion of the Greek systems and could have had 4 or 5 generations of families in them.

At this point is say DX has broken away from DTD, KS, and LXA and competes more with SX, OX, Pike, Pi Kapp and maybe Beta for members.

I agree with "There's", I don't know why some people think that there are NO old money kids in the top new row houses. SX was founded here in the 1800's and OX, Pi Kapp, and PIKE were all founded in the very early 1900's. I think the thing with OLD ROW is a lot of time they mainly only stick to kids from the "old money" families of Mobile, Mountain Brook and Montgomery. A lot of kids in New Row houses tend to be from well of families from more random parts of Alabama such as the Wiregrass and Rural parts of the state. A lot of New Row houses have a lot of generations of wealthy brothers coming from Out-of-State families that blow "old alabama money" out of the water. If you don't believe this, all you have to do is look at The new houses all of these fraternities are building. Obviously they have strong alumni bases. Everyone needs to get over trying to be on a certain status level and get along and enjoy the greek system.

At OX, EX, DX, Pi Kapp competes with any.
The bottom of the classes could not get good Old Row bids .... but since a lot of the bottom of the Old Row classes are legacies, those kids couldn't get bids from one another or the top of New Row.

Like it or not, the good new row classes are competing with Old Row way more than they used to
