you're an idiot. You are one of those people that puts their personal opinion out there either ignoring or not knowing a single fact. XO and DG have been top powerhouses nationally for decades. I'm not in either, but I'm smart enough to know what is real and not real regardless of my opinion. Just because DG is new on our campus and hasn't built up yet, doesn't mean anything about their national strength. Call it like it is regardless of your opinion. and XO again has been top sorority based on numbers alone.

And if numbers are all that matter to you, then XO is the best in your estimation. But for those who care about exclusivity, they're the worst!

Upper Tier:
Kappa, Pi Phi, Theta- Powerhouses and most selective about which campuses they are at
DDD, XO, DG-Similar to above but not as selective about campuses
ADPi, ZTA-Southern Powerhouses but are still well known and respected throughout the country
Alpha Phi, AXO= Not as strong as the one's above but still Top tier (large, well known, repsected)

Mid Tier:-not as large and more regional but relatively strong nationally
GPB, KD, PhiMu
AOPi, DZ, SK

Lower Tier: smaller groups but still a strong national presence, joined NPC later than the others, some started out as groups for certain faiths or as groups at teaching colleges
AEPhi, AZD, DPhiE, SDT, SSS
ASA, AST, PhiSS, TPA

Alpha Gam and Alpha Xi should be in the second group in middle tier though.

Your regional bias is hanging out.

are pretty much undebatable and these are pretty accurate descriptions of them there, but it gets pretty shakey from there. The middle and bottom show that there is definitely regional bias and a more limited knowledge of Greek life after the top 11 or so.

if these aren't correct and have a regional bias, please correct them.

In my opinion, the "upper tier" groups in this list are the groups that seem to be spread around the country the most, even if they may not be strong at a particular campus.

basically the newsweek article was fairly accurate with the top 10 even if the order was wrong

They had Theta at 11 which is 8 or 9 spots low. And the order was whack. Second half was closer to right.

Thanks for finishing it off. I was trying to be evenhanded and comprehensive, but my knowledge failed me for the last 4.

Anytime you see a "national tiers" list it is biased. It is impossible not to base your ranking on what you know or have heard. A person at Univ of Illinois (largest greek system in the country) would have a very different list than a person from the SEC or a person from Cali. They all might know the reps of houses at several universities and the ability to look up who's got the most chapters, but that's where their expertise ends. You are making yourselves look so stupid by even attempting this "national tier" talk.

are pretty close to the consensus all over the place (i.e. quite a few major schools from every region). You can figure out the general rep at big universities all over the country and come up with decent idea. And Illinois is only the biggest Greek system by number of chapters, not by absolute number of Greeks or percentage.
