No such thing. Every sorority has strong chapters and weak chapters. About the only thing you can do is look at number of chapters or number of members, but real story is what's right for you. If your college years are miserable because you hate your sorority, the alumnae experience won't matter.

Theta would be in the top 5 without a doubt (made 11) and Alpha Chi would almost certainly make the top 10.

Not at all. The list was poorly researched, the philanthropy numbers were largely inaccurate or misleading (didn't account for individual chapters' contributions), and Facebook likes and Twitter followers were major criteria. For a respected publication, Newsweek really dropped the ball when making their fraternity/sorority lists.

There is no such thing as a national tier. Almost everything published that relies on "the reputation" of certain houses is wrong more often than it's right. Sororities are very local in their reputation, sometimes being the top house at one state school and low or even the bottom house at another. Besides, who cares? Pledge a house that makes YOU happy and don't worry about it's national reputation. By the time people are grown up, there are lots of excellent women representatives of every sorority.

There might be sororities that are larger or more consistently strong from school to school, but the tiers get argued over endlessly, and you shouldn't join a house that's bottom tier at your school just because it has a better reputation nationally, and you shouldn't join a house just based on it's national rep or even it's tier at the school, because you might hate the people and have a miserable experience. While there are probably overall national tiers to some extent, it shouldn't be the basis of your decision to join.

Except at the schools where they're terrible. And there are just as many of those because as you've been told several times already... NATIONAL TIERS DON'T EXIST!

There isn't any such thing as a national ranking so you can leave out any house except your own (since that's the only reason you'd be promoting a national sorority ranking.) lol!

XO, DDD, DG, Kappa, Pi Phi, Theta= National powerhouses. Can't pick one out for better than another.
ADPi, Alpha Phi, AXO, Zeta= Well known nationally, but slightly less than the top tiers.
AOPi, DZ, GPB, KD, Phi Mu, SK= Middle tier of nationals. Known but only in certain areas.
AEPhi, AZD, DPhiE, SDT, SSS= Heard of them, but weak nationally.
ASA, AST, PhiSS, ThetaPA= Sorry, who?

Don't bother trying to tweek this. Anyone from another part of the country would say you're crazy, that these aren't strong where they're from.

If you are a Zeta you'll believe this. If you're not, you'll be right. This is just another example of a list made up to drive traffic and sell ads.

I’m from the Midwest and attend Alabama. Zeta literally doesn’t exist at majority of schools around there and also has absolutely no presence at schools in Cali or Arizona. Sit down zeta you’re good at Alabama and schools in the south but not anywhere else.
