question for the old folks

by:

What was Delta Gamma's reputation when they were on campus the first time? (I'm not talking about the urban legend, which is obviously malicious BS.) I know they were closed for low numbers -- did they always struggle, or were they strong at some point before they started having trouble?

Maybe they had low numbers because no one wanted to be in a brothel. Now there back at it again...

They were one of the top houses and were actually part of the original Old Row. They were also backed by the Machine and still are today. Apparently, little known fact, their rival was actually Phi Mu. Since their recolonization, they have been asked to be Old Row again but were forced to decline the offer due to the fact that the current definition of Old Row means that one is sponsored by an alcoholic beverage (i.e. Budweiser), which is against their bylaws. I hope that answers at least a little bit of your question.

If they were so good, why were they kicked off campus?

Apparently they weren't kicked off, their nationals made them leave campus. Anyway.....why does someone on greek rank care about what happened in the 70s/80s? Literally has nothing to do with today....

wasn't kicked off, nationals closed them due to low numbers. If they were kicked off or in trouble the university wouldn't have asked them back on campus.

Every bit of that is huge BS. Never OR and no chapter is sponsored by Budweiser. Hilarious.

DG struggled with membership for years before nationals closed the house in the 70s. In the 60's the other sororities had newer and bigger houses, but DG never seemed to catch up. The way rush was done in those days made it hard for a house with declining membership to come close to quota, since rushees would cut them after IWTs and never return. The other malicious rumors aren't true.

I know a lovey DG alum from this era. They were closed for low numbers. Everything else is lies.

All you have to do is look at online Corolla yearbooks from the '70s to know that they struggled with numbers. The odd thing was, they had pretty girls and didn't look like a stereotypical bottom house. They were just smaller than the rest.
